Jose Serpas is a senior who hails from Houston, TX. He chose Drexel after being encouraged by several alumni who had received the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering Scholarship Award (NACME).
Jose chose worked at Lockheed Martin Space Operations at Johnson Space Center (JSC) for his first two Co-op jobs. This enabled him to gain invaluable experience as a project engineer, and provided him with important practial insights into the application of his classroom learning.
Through his position as Vice President of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and his involvement in Engineers Without Borders (EWB), Jose has been inspired to make a difference in the world and views the global need for altruistic engineers. His desire to use his education to assist parts of the world that have been overlooked, exploited or forgotten. After graduation, Jose is considering joining the Peace Corps and to continue on for graduate school.
