Why did you become an engineer?
I was interested in design and creating things on my own.
Why did you choose to go into academia?
I have greater freedom to do the things I want (be my own boss) and you can stay young by learning with college students.
What do you like best (in reference to the above question)?
Being able to stay young by learning along with college students.
Explain your area of research (in layman’s terms)
We can use computers, software and various machines to make cars, airplanes, machines and many products automatically and remotely. In the same way, we are trying to make human tissues, bones and organs for patients.
Who was your favorite teacher/professor and why?
When I was in 5th grade in China, I was very naughty and did not listen or respect my teachers. However, there was a Chinese Language and Homeroom teacher named Wu. She often talked to me, encouraged me and lent some very good books to me. She was an excellent teacher and all of the students liked her. She was my favorite teacher.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Sir Isaac Newton, Scientist and Mathematician

What was your favorite class (and why)?
Math and Mechanics; I was good at them.
What do you like to do to relax? What are your hobbies?
Reading, watching TV, playing table tennis and badminton.

Favorite song? My Home is on Song Hua River (Chinese song)
Favorite movie? Gone With the Wind
Any advice for new students?
Don’t miss any class, it is the key.
