Dr. Kim has been awarded the Louis and Bessie Stein Family Fellowship to study the mechanical and structural properties of nucleic acids using solid-state nanopores in his project entitled “Single Molecule Analysis in Solid-State Nanopores”. This is a collaborative research initiative at Drexel University with Prof. Irit Sagi at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. The budget for this program is $20K for one year.

Dr. Kim plans to strengthen relationship with scientists in the Weismann Institute of Science to carry out this project. They will be able to exchange faculties for seminars to introduce new emerging science for both departments (MEM and molecular biology).
