DPI Takes Center Stage during First International Conference on Plasma Medicine

The field of plasma medicine, a still emerging branch of medicine and technology, has taken a leap forward through the first International Conference on Plasma Medicine that was held from Oct. 15th-18th in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Members of the Drexel Plasma Institute, Dr. Alex Fridman (Organizing Committee Chairman), Dr. Victor Vasilets (MEM, both), Dr. Alex Dolgopolsky (Math Dept.), and Dr. Gary Friedman (ECE) served as key conference organizers and participants, joined by Dr. Richard Hamilton, MD, Drexel College of Medicine.

The goal of the conference was to create a forum that brings professionals from the field of plasma together with medical professionals, biologists and biochemists in order to develop a common language, better define key challenges and open questions and to move toward effective solutions.

ICPM-1 received coverage on Corpus Christi’s local television stations and in their local newspapers as well as on MSNBC.
