MEM Ph.D. Candidate Connie Gomez was recently appointed as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Texas El Paso.

Under the guidance of her advisors, Dr. Wei Sun (MEM) and Dr. Ali Shokoufandeh (CS), Gomez’s research is currently in multi-scale modeling and design for tissue engineered scaffolds. She plans on continuing to work in the field of Tissue Engineering, namely modeling tissue scaffolds during tissue regeneration and degradation, as she begins her Assistant Professor position in September 2007. Gomez was also GK-12 Fellow and NSF Fellow.
