Dr. Paul Oh Highlighted in News for WTEC International Study of Robotics Workshop
MEM Assistant Professor Dr. Paul Oh and his team of graduate students attended the 2005 World Technology Evaluation Center (WTEC) Workshop on the International Study of Robotics on September 16 in Arlington, VA.
The NBC DC affiliate station's article on the workshop and the United States' falling position in the area of robotics, also included a mention of the attending Drexel students (Graduates: Keith Sevcik and Bill Green; Undergraduates: Shrey Shah and Bill Morgan). Video of graduate student Bill Green's Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), also known as "Blackhawk", was featured in the on-air "Digital Edge" report.
In an article on Wired Magazine.com that discussed the various robotic technologies that are being developed, and the decrease in funding in the U.S. for these projects, Dr. Paul Oh was quoted on the persistence and imagination of his students despite the financial adversity they are facing.
Held at the National Science Foundation's headquarters, the workshop explored the international aspects of robotics from a panel of experts who have just completed a study of research and development in the world including the U.S., Japan, Korea, and Europe.
The one-day Robotics workshop discussed issues in: robotic vehicles, space robots, industrial, service, and personal robots, humanoids, robotics in biology and medicine, and networked robots.
