The ASME Young Engineers Forum (YEF) was Established to Provide Students with Advice from Professionals on Beginning Their Careers
The 2006 Young Engineers Forum will be held on Saturday, April 8, in the Bossone Research Center of Drexel University from 9:00am-7:30pm. The day long event is intended to be a networking opportunity for both students from the Mid-Atlantic region (PA, NJ, DE, MD &NY) and companies in the industry. The day will include the YEF Program, a networking reception, guest speakers from industry and the Apprentice Challenge dinner.
Gene Feigel, President of ASME International, George Binns (Keynote), Chief of Inspections and Evaluations for Amtrak, Jill Anderson, Project Engineer for Consolidated Edison Company of NY, and Miguel Cortez of Johnson & Johnson are slated to speak at the event. The Apprentice Challenge is an engineering competition in which teams of 4-5 engineers will brainstorm solutions to a current problem and create a design idea that they will market and sell to “consumers”. During dinner, the teams will present their findings and judges will determine the winners, who will receive cash and prizes.
Early registration for participants is ongoing until March 29th and is $10 for students and $20 for professionals and includes a full breakfast, lunch and dinner. Late/On-site registration is $15 for students and $25 for professionals. Students are encouraged to bring their resumes and business cards, and companies are encouraged to bring promotional and recruitment materials.
