I am a new freshman, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Who is my advisor?
All freshmen engineers are seen by the advisors located in the College of Engineering's Student Services Office located in 155 Crossings, 215.895.2211.
May I take courses at other colleges or universities while a student at Drexel and transfer them in?
Yes.
A few Mechanical Engineering courses and some liberal studies requirements may be fulfilled at other colleges and transferred into Drexel and would be counted toward your degree. Please see the staff in 155 Crossings to complete the necessary forms.
I am interested in the BS/MS program. When do students begin graduate courses? What GPA is required for admission to this program?
Typically, pre-juniors enroll for one graduate course per term. Students should have earned at least a 3.0 and have taken between 90 and 120 credits.
I may want to travel abroad during one term of my junior year when I would normally be on Co-op. Can I cancel part of my co-op experience for this reason?
All Co-op concerns and questions should begin with the Co-op Coordinators, who will advise you of the requirements and possible alternatives. They can be reached at 215.895.2185 or in Room 250 at 3201 Arch Street.
I tried to register for a course, but the system won't allow it. What do I do?
Any number of issues could trigger a schedule block. You may not have all of the prerequisites for the course, or you took the prerequisite under a number not identifiable by the Banner system, or you transferred in the prerequisite. Please see the Undergraduate Advisor in the Mechanical Engineering Department for resolution to this problem.
I'm a pre-junior and am interested in finding out about the six specializations offered in Mechanical Engineering. Who is my contact for this information?
Check out the Concentrations described on the MEM website. There you will see the Faculty Coordinators identified for each specialization with contact information. (Remember, you may decide to explore a variety of electives during your junior and senior years and not declare a specialization)
