Drexel University
Combustion
and Fuels/Fluids Group

Welcome-

     The Combustion and Fuels Group at Drexel University has been conducting research in key areas of combustion chemistry, fluid mechanics, and combustion thermodynamics for over 20 years. Over which time experimental and modeling work has elucidated a fundamental understanding in the areas of diesel particulate formation, autoignition and knock chemistry in spark ignition and diesel ignition engines, droplet combustion in microgravity, plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition, and plasma incineration.

Current research areas include;

     · Autoignition and knock chemistry of diesel fuels
     · The chemistry controlling Homogenous Charged Compression Ignition (HCCI)
     · Evaporation and combustion of droplet arrays in microgravity
     · Thermoacoustic phenomena
     · Microchannel flows
     · Plasmas
