G.P. Singh Inducted into Drexel 100
MEM Alum, Dr. G.P. Singh, has been selected to become a member of the prestigious Drexel 100. Named for the inaugural class when Drexel celebrated its 100th anniversary, the Drexel 100 has more than 100 members and is the highest ranking alumni award given. Dr. Singh earned his
Masters and Ph.D. from Drexel University in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics in 1976 and 1979, respectively.
Founder of Karta Technologies, Inc., Dr. Singh is an innovator and an entrepreneur. He grew his business from a one-man, garage operation to over 400 professionals, creating the largest San Antonio based defense contractor for professional services. Karta was acquired by NCI Information Systems, Inc (NCIT) in June 2007 and Dr. Singh serves on the Board of Directors of NCI Information Systems.

Scott C. Millhouse '04
Scott Millhouse has graduated from Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, SC. He was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy. He will continue his nuclear power training at the Saratoga Springs Township, N.J.
Chang (Karen) Yan 00', '03 Ph.D.
Karen Chang Yan was appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at The College of New Jersey. In her role, she will be teaching materials related courses and conducting research in composite materials and biomaterials. She received her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University under the direction of Dr. Albert S. D. Wang.

Yingwai Chan graduated from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL. Chan has been commissioned as second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.
Richard B. Depenbrock, P.E., ‘91
Richard B. Depenbrock was promoted to Senior Engineer for the Philadelphia Building Systems Division at Pennoni Associates, Inc.,a multi-disciplined consulting engineering firm headquartered in Philadelphia. Mr. Depenbrock specializes in heating, ventilation and air- conditioning engineering.
Stephen C. Munz BS ’98
Stephen C. Munz received the Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania in May 2006.

Jon Suh joined Weichert, Realtors’ Fort Washington Office as a Sales Associate. Mr. Suh is a member of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors.

Todd D. Gundlach was been appointed Deputy Director of Resource Management
for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Correction. He is
responsible for all capital projects for the system’s 18 correctional institutions statewide.

Larry D Elston II is currently working for Hyundai HMMA, the first American Manufacturing Plant, as Assistant Mgr. of Paint Engineering. Mr. Elston currently resides in Montgomery, Alabama

Christopher Jedrich was named a senior structural engineer for Central New York at Clough Harbour and Associates LLP, (CHA), Engineers, Surveyors, Planners, and Landscape Architects in the company's industrial division.

Stefan Nock, a Lieutenant in the US Army National Guard, has graduated from the infantry officer-basic course at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA.

John Tierney was named a 2002 Palmer Scholar of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the highest honor bestowed upon a graduate.

John H. Button '81
John Button has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for Del Mar Database, a San Diego-based tech company that provides software for lending companies. He was previously the Senior Vice President of Business Initiatives at IPS-Sendero.
James Crouthamel '87
James Crouthamel was added to the Board of Directors at PRIMIS Marketing Group, Inc., a national provider of integrated information marketing solutions. Mr. Crouthamel is the founder and former President and CEO of Performics, which was acquired by DoubleClick in 2004.
Christopher Ferguson '84
Chris Ferguson, NASA astronaut, served as pilot of the Space Shuttle Atlantis in September 2006. Mr. Ferguson’s flight, designated shuttle mission STS-115, was the first mission dedicated to construction of the International Space Station since late 2002. In addition to piloting duties on STS-115, Captain Ferguson was responsible for operation of the shuttle’s robotic arm to maneuver a new 17-ton truss segment to the station and to inspect the shuttle heat shield.

Dennis Jones was elected to the partnership of KPMG LLP, and audit, tax and advisory firm headquartered in New York and with offices across the country and around the world.
Jeff Lyash BS ’84
Jeff Lyash was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Progress Energy Florida, a subsidiary of Progress Energy, a provider of electricity and related serves to more than 1.5 million customers in Florida. In 2002, Mr. Lyash was named Vice President of Transmission for Progress Energy Carolinas and moved to the Tampa Bay area the next year to become Progress Energy Florida’s Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery.

Vice President of Northeast Refining for Sunoco. Vince is responsible for the day-to-day management of norththern Philadelphia and Marcus Hook refineries with over 500,000 barrels a day of crude oil capacity.

Richard S. Kreppel ‘88
Richard S. Kreppel was one of fifty individuals who were recognized at an awards ceremony by the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for their outstanding contributions to the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The National MS Society honors area leaders through the MS Leadership Class Program. The individuals who participate in the Program help to raise funds for MS. Mr. Kreppel is the Director of Operations at Handy & Harman Tube Company.

Ed Henrich has been appointed to the Board of Directors of VerticalResponse, a provider of self-service E-mail and direct mail marketing solutions. Mr. Henrich is currently the President of Henrich Enterprises, an online marketing company he founded to extend the usability of current web analytic tools to identify high performance segments and campaigns. Previously, Mr. Henrich served as the President of Yesmail, formerly known as Post Communications, one of the industry’s first E-mail marketing service providers.

Paul McNamara has been named an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at El Dorado Ventures in Menlo Park, CA. He was previously the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Silicon Graphics Inc.

Dr. James Bagian, former astronaut, serves as chair of the National Research Council Task Group on "Research on the International Space Station." This task group will advise the Space Studies Board of the National Research Council on life and microgravity research in space
Dr. Joseph Carleone '68, '70, '72
Dr. Joseph Carleone was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of American Pacific Corporation effective October 15, 2006. He was named to the Board of Directors in July 2006. American Pacific is a chemical and aerospace company, located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Raphael Koriat MS ’78
Raphael Koriat was nominated by AI Medical Semiconductor Ltd, of Or Akiva, Israel, to be the Active Chairman. AI Medical Semiconductor Ltd. was founded in November 2003, as part of Yozmot Incubator, under the Israel Chief Scientist Technological Incubators program and is developing a system solution for an Adaptive Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) device with dynamic optimization of pacing intervals according to hemodynamic sensors.

Glenn Lysinger
was appointed to the newly created position of Chief Compliance Officer at Detroit Diesel Corporation, a manufacturer of on-highway heavy-duty diesel engines for the commercial truck market. Mr. Lysinger is responsible for the management of all NAFTA Powertrain technical affairs with governmental and industry agencies. This includes all activities relating to emissions compliance, safety and government funded research. In addition, he is appointed Program Manager for the 2010 Emission Program.

Patrick J. McGeehan was appointed senior vice president of technology for Hoeganaes Corporation, the world's largest producer of ferrous metal powders, located in Gallatin, Texas.
William T. Schleyer '73
The 1998 recipient of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association's Vanguard Award, Schleyer was recently tapped to become Chairman and CEO of Adelphia Communications Corporation'a company that provides cable TV service to more than 5.8 million subscribers in thirty-two U.S. states and Puerto Rico.
For his many professional accomplishments, Schleyer was selected as the 1999 Engineer of the Year and was inducted into the prestigious Drexel 100 in 2000. Schleyer also established and supports the William T. Schleyer Endowed Scholarship Fund which benefits undergraduate engineering students at Drexel.

Barry Campbell was named to the board of directors of ManTech International Corporation in Fairfax, VA.
Lawrence Spielvogel '62
Lawrence Spielvogel was named director-at-large of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. Spielvogel also serves on the board of directors of the Interfaith Coalition on Energy.
Joseph B. Volpe, Jr., '60
Mr. Volpe was the recipeint of the 2003 Circle of Distinction award. The Circle of Distinction is a recognition reserved for those alumni who?ve attained a highlevel of success in their chosen field. Mr. Volpe is President and Chairman of Frazer-Volpe Corporation, a global company founded in 1972, has been producing optical and electro-optical devices for over 30 years and designed more than 15 different models of stabilized viewing devices.
Richard O. Schaum,'69
Richard O. Shaum was appointed to the Board of Directors of BorgWarner Inc., a product leader in highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide. Mr. Schaum was most recently a Vice President and General Manager of vehicle systems for WaveCrest Laboratories.

Dr. Paul Cooper, '57
A Life Fellow of the ASME, he received the society's Fluid Machinery Design Award (1991) and the Henry R. Worthington Medal (1993). Now a consultant, he is the author of many technical papers and is a co-author of the new 3rd edition of the Pump Handbook. He holds 10 patents on pumps, one of which was recently approved.
Paul Cooper was honored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers at their annual meeting. He is president of Fluid Machinery Research, Inc., in Titusville, NJ.
G. Terry Thomas, ’58
Mr. Thomas recently retired from the U.S. Defense Department after 48 years of service as a systems engineer and flight simulation designer.

Benjamin Ostrofsky '47
Benjamin Ostrofsky received the Society of Logistics Engineers President's Award for Merit. Ostrosky is one of only two members of the Society who have been honored with three of its most prestigious awards. He accepted the Armitage Medal in 1978, and the Founder's Medal in 1993.

Dr. George E. Law is currently the Lockheed Martin Chief Engineer for the F-22 Combined Test Force at Edwards Air Force Base. From 1995 to 2002, he led several key aspects of Lockheed Martin's winning competition in the Joint Strike Fighter program.

During World War II, Dr. Joseph Woodland '47, Hon. '98 worked as a technical assistant on the Manhattan Project before finishing his B.S. at Drexel. In 1948, while a lecturer in mechanical engineering at Drexel, he learned of supermarkets' need to track inventory and automate the checkout process.
