The research in the Laboratory
for Biological Systems Analysis involves the integration of
biology with systems level engineering analysis and design,
with an emphasis on: 1) the use of system identification
techniques to evaluate the functional performance of animal
physiological systems under natural, behavioral conditions;
and 2) the development of robotic systems that borrow from
nature's designs and use novel technologies, such as
electro-active polymers, to achieve superior performance
and function.
